What is Structural Integration?

Deeper than deep tissue, Structural Integration (SI) is a process for re-educating and releasing deeply set patterns of negative postural holding in the connective tissue, to help the body realise its fullest potential for energy, balance and ease of movement. Good posture is not holding your body in place. It is an effortless feeling of being held by your own natural balance in gravity.
SI is a hands-on body transformation, which renews the natural alignment and structural balance of the human body for pain-free vitality and wellbeing. Because the places we feel pain and tension are just part of a whole complex structure, lasting relief can only happen when the whole body is integrated, balanced and aligned.

Dr. Ida Rolf – acclaimed US scientist and pioneer of complementary medicine – developed Structural Integration. SI grew from the pre-existing complementary practices of osteopathy and yoga. This method became known as Rolfing*, as a modification of Rolf’s own name. (*Rolfing is a registered trademark of the Rolf Institute)
